Brake defects are among the most common HGV maintenance issue found by the DVSA, affecting around a quarter of all vehicles. The road worthiness directive states that trailers should complete at least three brake tests a year along with an annual MOT. Full brake tests should be carried out using calibrated brake rollers to measure individual brake performance and overall braking efficiency.
